Members of the park’s dedicated countryside team collected the coveted trophy after winning the Caravan Holiday Park / Holiday Village of the Year category at the prestigious VisitEngland Awards for Excellence, in Manchester, on Monday 20 May.

The eco-friendly park, which is set in 250 acres of woods and rare open heathland near Holt and the beautiful north Norfolk coast, was honoured for its excellent facilities and the range of events and activities it offers guests. Its superb customer services and friendly staff contribution to ensuring a relaxed atmosphere were also recognised.

Mark Durrant, Operations Manager at Kelling Heath Holiday Park, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have won such a prestigious national award, which represents the highest accolade the industry has to offer.

“We are very proud to be recognised amongst the very best of English Tourism and are dedicated to providing a first class experience for our guests.”

The park, which recently benefited from a six-figure investment in new luxury caravan holiday homes, fought off tough competition from businesses as far afield as Cumbria, Devon and Cornwall to win the award. It was also awarded Bronze after being shortlisted as a finalist in the Sustainable Tourism category.

It is the second year in a row the park has been commended for its green credentials after being highly commended in 2012. Kelling Heath Holiday Park is commited to continually measuring, monitoring and limiting its environmental impact – something demonstrated by the fact that it has managed to maintain its level of CO2 emissions over the last two years despite increasing visitor numbers.

The park also runs a programme of family-friendly eco-events such as bat walks and scavenger hunts, designed to educate visitors about the environment and the wildlife that live there.

“Conserving the natural environment is a vital part of the ethos of our business and the team at Kelling Heath is dedicated to maintaining a sustainable environment for our visitors and the local wildlife, both now and for the future,” Mr Durrant added.

The park has an impressive track record in being recognised for its commitment to conservation and sustainable tourism, having previously been awarded gold in the Green Tourism Business Scheme, gold in the David Bellamy Conservation Awards and a CPRE Norfolk Award from the Campaign to Protect Rural England. Running for 23 years.
